Creating Sacred Space

by PathofthePhoenix

It can be very difficult to cultivate inner peace if our surroundings are chaotic or cluttered. In order to create that inner peace that we all crave we need to create a place of sanctuary in our lives and that starts at home.

Easier said than done I know, but I can tell you from personal experience that it is possible, even with kids! And what you’ll find is that once they have a peaceful surrounding and the adults around them are feeling more peaceful too, their behaviours will change as well.

So how do you begin to create this peaceful existence? The first step is to remove as much clutter as possible. Now this doesn’t mean going absolutely minimal or getting rid of all the things you love, but it does mean removing items that have no special meaning to you or that you don’t use on a regular basis.

When we surround ourselves with things, especially those with no meaning or purpose, we are just cluttering up our space and creating stagnant energy.

This in turn will create stagnant energy within our physical bodies and our energy field and can lead to feelings of frustration, overwhelm, being stuck, and even create feelings of anxiety and depression.

Trying to keep on top of household chores is a great place to start. Then begin decluttering with one room, your bedroom is usually the easiest and most beneficial, a peaceful nights sleep is something we all need!
Or if a whole room seems too much to take on then even one shelf or drawer, or just a good general tidy up can create a better flow of overall energy.

The next step is to create a sacred space, somewhere that is all about you. Somewhere you can sit to meditate, journal or just be. It can be as large or small as you have space for. Size definitely doesn’t matter. It’s all about things that make you smile and help you with connecting to Source, however you choose to define that.

I love candles, crystals, oils, books and plants. I also have some decorative items that have special meaning to me. It doesn’t matter what you include, or how it looks, what’s important is the intent and the emotions that it invokes.
Fill it with objects that have special meaning or just make you smile.

Create a ritual or habit of using this space on a daily basis to reconnect to yourself and to your Source, then allow the magic to happen.

When you take the time to create and use a sacred space, it becomes a place for connection, healing and introspection. It allows you to live at a higher vibration and reconnect with the light and love within your soul.
