We all have a story to tell and experiences to share. No ones story is more important than another’s. They are all just different perspectives on life.
It’s how we react to the people and circumstances in our lives that can make or break us.
Some choose to wallow in their story and allow it to define them. They feel that they’ve been hard done by and that life or people are out to get them. They see only the hardships they’ve been presented with and can’t see a way out of their perceived misery.
Others choose to see the lessons that have been provided by their circumstances. They see things as challenges to work through and experiences to gather knowledge from. They choose to look for the silver lining and find a way to rise above misadventures and misfortunes. They choose to become survivors.
You see it’s all about choice. It’s the little choices we make in every moment of every day that make the difference between being a victim of your circumstances or a survivor of them.
So next time you feel yourself slipping into that victim mentality and feeling like the world is turning against you, take a moment to stop and think about how you could look at things differently.
What is the emotion or experience trying to tell you? Is this something that keeps repeating in your life?
Until we face the underlying issue and claim the knowledge that is being imparted, we will keep having the same thing presented over and over again.
There is a reason for everything that happens in our lives. We may not always be able to see it straight away, but eventually we can look back and see all the clues we had before it occurred and the changes that have occurred since. It’s not always pleasant or easy, but a change in perspective usually helps.
