Let’s talk self-care.
When was the last time you did something just for you?
We all know, theoretically, how important it is to look after ourselves, but how many of us create the time to actually do it?
We’re always too busy or too tired. There’s not enough time. We’re looking after someone or something else.
We can come up with a million excuses not to take time for ourselves but at what cost?
When we’re constantly giving to others, what effect does that have on us?
At first everything may seem fine. But gradually the symptoms creep up on us.
Disrupted sleep patterns.
Constantly feeling tired or just worn out.
Getting snappy for no reason.
Being overly emotional.
Feeling unheard, unseen and unloved.
So what can we do about it? There are only 24hrs in a day. How do we fit in time for ourselves amongst all the other things we need to do?
The answer is to incorporate a few minutes of just BEING into all that we are DOING.
Meditate in the shower. Yes it’s a thing!
Eat lunch in a quiet spot outdoors.
Get out in the garden, even if it’s just pulling weeds.
Spend a few minutes writing in a journal before bed.
Every little thing that we can do, makes a big difference overall.
It allows us to reconnect to ourselves, recharges our energy levels and helps us function as HUMAN BEINGS, not just humans constantly DOING.
